hey
i was wondering how to connect 2 subs to a single mono amp the subs are 4 ohm and the amps can handle 4 ohms at 300 rms or 2 ohms 600 rms. any help would be great.

I'm presuming the amp is 2ohm stable ? There's a big difference between being able to handle 2ohms and 2 ohms stable. Stable simply means it can support that load for a period of time without clipping.
A bit more info is needed. Are the subs single or dual voice coil ?

there single voice coil and yes the amp is 2 ohms stable. and thanks at least there is someone willing to help here.

EDIT: i found this.
http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/lea ... m_mono.jpg would it be the setup i need. ive done basic sub setups just never used mono blocks or twin subs.

Do a google search for "series parallel subwoofer wiring".
www.jlaudio.com has articles in their tech section to cover what you require for your SVC subs.
Have a read, you might learn something.

there is 2 ways you can do it.
one way parrallel -
take the positive terminal and conect it to teh first positive connector then run from there to the next positive terminal. then repeat with the negitive.
advantage - will give you 2 ohm impedence as when you parrallel it halves the impedance. Now by lowering your impedence it increases the power output of the amp.
Serial-
take the positive output of the amp and run it to the postive input of the 1st sub. Next take a connection from the negitive terminal of the sub and run it to the positive of the next sub, then do the same and run it to the negitive of the amp.
advantage-
By running in serial it increases the impedance. so it will be running 8 ohms. now this will decrease your amps powr output, but at the same time make it more stable and in the case of lower quality products generally make them last alot longer.
If the amp is of a decent quality and can handle the 2 ohm impedance i would recommend doing that as it will increase your volume. and hey we all know everyone wants more bass.
Hope this has helped

yep brick has it right.
parallel is mostly the favoured choice, best way is run two wires from the amps positive to the subs (one wire to each subs positive) then two wires from amps negative to the negative of subs, if the subs dont respond as good as they should its possible the wiring inside the sub box is switched so on one of them the + and - will be switched (this causes one to go out while one goes in and cancel each other out, only if they are in the same box)
i had this setup running in my swift and was impressive so now ive swapped my swift and got a sierra and now creating the back system for it aswell
would anyone like me to post a thread while im doing it? or is it too far from suzi tech?

No post it up
its not tech but
everyone has a sound system

lol well was going to be more han an average system kinda for display and removable but customised to suit fastback sierra. this was the last one i did, 2 x amps, 2 x 12" subs and 4 x 6x9's but meh doesnt bother me not to post it up.

the very first thing i did to my sierra was to throw away all the garbage that the previous owner had installed. cd player, amp and big speakers and associated wiring. i put it all in the bin and installed a uhf which is something that is much more useful in a sierra.
i did a quality job as well

lol very nice very nice, well yeah i would install a UHF if i could find one for cheap, but since i have a sound system and no uhf ill put in the soundsystem. no reason wh you cant have both

i didnt like the idea of mounting an expensive item like a UHF so close to water, i left my stereo in the stereo location and mounted my UHF higher

up hear if the water is that deep it is flowing. i don't drive through deep flowing water, when i was a kid i saw a roadtrain washed of a bridge that only had a metre of water on it. was a bit of an eye opener.
