i cant remember if it was the ultimate that i used but i normally use catlex and i filled up with bp the other day the truck seems more powerful and it seems to rev much more freely. i might be on drugs not sure but thats my thoughts. (i might add it isnt a massive difference but noticable)
oh and i have a 2.4D hilux so i notice ever difference, wether it be a 2km/h head wind or not lol.

IMHO mobil and Bp diesel are superior compared to craptex, shell, etc. in the way of economy and power. i think mobil is a bit better than Bp but abou the same

Many others i know of esp tradies also believe this also.

been told by a number of people who are into motoring (V8's, turbos, drag racing and circuit racing) to stay away from shell. caltex isnt much better but BP is the best very closely followed by mobil. mobil was second because ultimate is so good. take that out and mobil wins across the board for all their fuels. they are the largest world wide by alot

edit; audi queensland sent out letters telling customers not to use shell fuel, the e100 in particular. said the engine didnt like it.

only reason I stay away from Shell is its 10cents dearer round here..
the BP is similar price but no difference in power at all in mine, and wouldnt expect it.. its just marketing and a placebo

Interesting in QLd BP is always 3 or more cents above everyone else.

I've never been a huge fan of the BP diesel.

I prefer Caltex or shell, but I found united Fuels, doesn't seem to be a biodiesel fuel mix.

BP super diesel is just B10 biodiesel, it's out in other countries.

A little marketing can give the placebo effect a big kick along

Around here mobil disapeared and united appeared :?:

zagen are you sure super diesel is 10% bio is it labeled as that? :) just curious

The BP diesel at Marulean (sp) in NSW is deadset rocket fuel. Towing my GU ute behing my GU wagon 4.2td back from Willowglen back to Sydney after filling up there, there was a notacible increase in power compared to the trip down. I couldn't use 5th on the way down but on the way back i pulled away from a mate in 4.2 petrol GQ towing a box trailer with about 500kgs on board in 5th.
A couple of mates have noticed the difference in there diesels with it as well. I use BP normally any way.

See, you've got it all wrong. You need to fit three Hyclones to make the Ultimate work (the last one needs to go in reverse rotation though)

For the last few months i have been using United diesel. The reason being that they are the cheapest around (i would argue that they are probably one of the cheapest in the state, at my one anyway), and the particular business i go to is family owned. They never put huge jumps in their prices before holidays etc, and now that the new wallan north-bound BP and soon to be south-bound are there, they're probably finding it a bit harder, although they are ALWAYS 2-3 cents cheaper than the new freeway BP's.

The other week i got 680km off my standard tank - so that cant be too bad.

Friend of mine went through 2 diesel engines using united diesel, a handgrenade GU and a mercedes, due to contaminated fuel. The one he went to is kind of out your way, PM if you want to know to avoid any hoo-hah.

In the old dudrunner i always tried to use BP diesel, found it better; seat of the pants driving that anything else, in the new 80 its much of a muchness seat of the pants but i try and stick to BP. For interests sakes for melbourne people, BP on the corner of Canterbury and Union i think in Boxhill, and on Dorset i think, south from Anaconda is normally 2 - 3 cents cheaper than other servos in see around the area.

We don't get BP "Ultimate" Diesel in VIC but I do feel my GU runs best on BP Diesel.

I've tried all the brands and BP seems to be the go for me anyway, placebo or not ... I guess it could also come down to your local servo too.

It would be interesting to see what an axle dyno says about the different fuels... don't tell the operator which is which (fuel "a", "b", "c" etc).. used in the same vehicle. When I say axle dyno, I mean one that bolts onto the wheel studs not rollers on tyres....

I have a TD 79 cruiser and have just started to use bp ultimate. After only two tanks motor is running smoother and revs faster, difference in power is there also but less noticable. Was most happy with the way the engine is running just seems to be a whole lot happier to rev and a lot less diesel clatter especially when accelerating. not sure about the economy, maybe a small increase but will take a few tanks to tell. also blows less smoke. Will continue to use it because it makes the car nicer to drive.

"United diesel is SHELL diesel"
As is 7/11 fuel
As is Aus fuel
As is OZ fuel

BP is more expensive due to the fact they have the majority of the QLD govt contracts (nil competition why not rip em an extra few cents).

G'day all.

I can say for a known fact, That BP and Shell Diesel are exactly the same.

BP does shells Fuels in QLD due to shell not having a refinery in QLD
and vice versa in NSW

Cheers

Dude go to the mouth of the river, you will see a 10 inch pipeline that runs between BP and Caltex refinery. This pipeline also serves Shell tank farm ( that is just down the road from BP refinery), pacific terminals ( next door to shell tank farm) and then this pipeline also goes to the JOINT BP/mobil terminal at eagle farm and to GUESS WHO Nuemans petroloum.

Shell buy from caltex or bp depending on who is the cheapest. ALL companies blend their FINAL product on site. Their is NO biodeiesel at either refinery it is blended on site. Pacific terminals have HUGE tallow tanks for blending.

As for BP ultimate diesel just being biodiesel well umm maybe just maybe you could find some supporting eveidence for that and share it with us. Or is it on the sealed side of www.rednecksRus.com forum????

Have used 3 consequative tanks of it now.

I reckon i do have more get up and go. But hark to prove without Dyno.

However i am getting approx 60km more per tank than i have been getting.

yeah i'm on my 3rd tank and i haven't notice a difference in power or economy. If there is an increase in power it's defiantly not noticeable in my TD42 anyway...

I found in my td42, standard BP diesel gives slightly better performace and smells different than mobile diesel. I usually use mobile diesel and deffinatly get more kms per tank from mobile, although not the same performace ( not heaps) but noticeable

BP Ultimate is not the same as Shell diesel here in WA. Over here all normal petrol and diesel is sent to the distribution site where individual suppliers may add additives and make changes as they wish. BP Ultimate diesel and Ultimate petrol however is refined differently to the normal petrol and diesel sold only to BP branded service stations.

I cant talk about over east as I've never enquired about it. But in Perth and most of WA you are getting specially refined fuel when you buy the BP Ultimate fuels.
