Anyone used a Rear disconect from a frontier/MU/Isuzu etc?

Frontiers, Vehicross and some other Isuzu platform cars use a disconnect in the long front axle next to the diff to engage and disengage 4wd. They can be opperated with vaccume or compressed air (low preassure).
I have one which i took to bits (will post photos up soon) and i am debating if the locking gear is strong/wide enough to use as a driveshaft disconnect. Has anyone used one before for this?

And Gen 2 Pajero onwards.
Front axle receives more torque than driveshaft, so I would expect a front disconnect to cope with driveshaft torque. However, in the front axle application the disconnect doesn't move with suspension cycling - I don't know if this would make a difference?

very similar to the toyota ADD system, which has was in use from 1989-2005 when the new D4D lux's went to a permenantly engaged front end.

around $350 - $400 for complete front diff (no CV's), but should be able to get the ADD part a lot cheaper as when 7.5" centre craps itself it's cheaper to buy a new complete diff than new C&P.

They're used on later model Jackaroo's and Rodeo's as well. Instead of manually locking the front hubs the hubs are permanently in and when 4wd is selected the vacuum operated actuator slides the collar across to connect the front axles to the diff. They play up a fair bit too eg: sticking on or off or slow to work and they must be well sealed units.
