Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Have just bought this 95 Feroza SXII and have noticed the automatic door lock dosen't seem to do anything

Is there a common place to start looking for the fault or just start pulling stuff apart.

This is the switch I'm talking about, between the seats on the console.


Also this had tape on it as the front small button is broken.
What is it for and is it worth the time to find another one ??


Any advice is appreciated as I know nothing about these rigs as yet.

i'm not sure about ur car but that button in the center console in mine only operated the rear door and i'd say that button above the power window switch turns off the passenger side controls

Firstly, welcome to the dark side of daihatsu ownership Doug.

Apologies if you already know or worked it out, but the first switch is for locking/unlocking the rear door. Apart from the usual multimeter test o see if current is reaching the rear door lock mechanism, no real advice to give about what to look for fault wise.

The switch on the door is to lock the power windows so passenger cannot operate their side......only really useful for long drives when you want passengers to suffer the gaseous aftermath of the driver eating a dodgy pie

Hope that helps a bit. Highly recommend pulling the switches out and giving a good clean before anything, as water and dust buildup seems to hurt these things.

The dark side isn't that bad as I also have a 91 Surf, I like a challenge I suppose

That switch is a bit complex inside. Basically, it sends a voltage spike to the rear door lock- the polarity is reversed to the solenoid to make it lock/ unlock.

Pulled it apart, some wally had forgotten to plug it in when they had reassembled.
Works fine now, just hope it wasn't pulled for a reason

I'd unplugged mine because the alarm remote would unlock the boot- but having the switch connected as well resulted in a blown fuse....

OK, my central locking on the front doors does not lock/unlock the rear door when the front doors are activated.

Are they suposed to be like this, or all connected so they lock/unlock all at the same time ??
