Mikuni Carby

I was pulling parts of an old 1983 Mitsubishi Sigma for another little project when I looked at the carby. Its a Mikuni DownDraught carburettor with vaccum secondarys and it seemed to have the same stud pattern as my zook. I get it home and low and behold it is!
It's off a 2.0L Astron motor. Can I bolt it straight on and it'll run ok or will i have to play around with jets abit? I've heard that vitara carbs are Mikuni's? I will be changing it to manual choke as is my currant 3k carby as i don't have much luck with auto chokes(the mikuni is water choke). Has anyone else used this carby before any advice will be much apprecitated

i've seen some zuks running them and was told that once you get past how to look after the carby and tune it right theyre a brilliant carb, better than the weber im told (no flooding and more responsive).
never driven one though.

many years ago i played around with sigma carbies but like webers they were shite on angles. vitara mikunis are designed as a 4x4 carby and are fantastic on side angles, and leave the water choke in as they work well. play with the sigma carb, but i sure you'll go a vit one eventualy.

What size jets did you run joe? Are the jets interchangeable between stock zook and the mikuni's? If so I've got a few jets to work with and play around with when tuning.

I bolted the carby on yesterday and she runs beautifully! Extremely smooth compared to the old 3k I had on there. Seems to be running at the right air/fuel ratio according to the spark plugs too which is all good for not having changed anything internally too. Actually I was slack and didn't even open the carby up to clean it because it already looked clean
but all is good.
Now just need to check it on the angles

Those carbies should be alright on angles as they are the same carby's used on the early 4 cylinder Pajero's and 4wd L300's. They were a good carby, but the only thing that used to go wrong with them was the vacuum secondaries would rarely work due to the diaphrams deteriorating. The only other problem they had was there weren't many people that knew how to tune them correctly (especially the auto choke)

How do I test the secondary diaphragm? Just suck on the pipe and see if it draws air through and if it moves the butterfly?
