I've searched but could not find.
My fuel pump seems to have alot of oil coming out of the bottom outlet. It looks like there's supposed to be a line connected to this as I can't find one to join up. Or is my fuel pump buggered??? I've heard of fuel going and mixing with the oil in the sump but not the reverse?

There should be three hoses on your fuel pump..
Inlet from tank
Outlet to carb.
Return line to tank (the smaller one)
Sometimes oil can leak out of the gudgeon holes. Time to replace it if you haven't changed it since you've had the car.

PS: What colour have you painted it?

Some pumps ahve the three fuel connections, plus a small drain vent. If its leaking oil out this, the internals are stuffed. New ones are cheap and easy.

I've just smelt the oil and it smells like there's fuel mixed into it... How much would I be looking at for a brand new pump from suzuki?

What part are you asking about being painted want33's?

They're pretty expensive. I looked into one when I did my rebuild and think Suzuki wanted $150 or $215 (can't remember which). But definitely quite a bit!

New pumps are on Ebay for about $60.
I was asking what colour you have painted the pump...
Black wheels.
Red sliders.
Green front bar.

Could I rebuild it by any chance? Also the old man has 2 electric fuel pumps sitting in the shed but they don't have return lines. Could I use these or would it be to hard to regulate the pressure etc?

Also the motor has copped some red engine enamel but the fuel pump is still plain old dirty aluminium now also covered in leaking oil

P.s. The rims in the pic are stock chromies I greatly dislike black rims they just look plain wrong IMO! But red sliders and green bar are totally acceptable

I changed my fuel pump last year and once you've done it seems to be more responsive

Have you asked at your local Auto-One, Supercrap, etc?

They often have access to aftermarket fuel pumps. Last mechanical pump I replaced was about $69.

Its worth an enquiry, especially as you may get a pump in the end for half of the genuine cost... still with warranty.

also check that the bolts are tight and haven't came loose ... this will also create an oil leak

I didn't actually think about auto one or supercheap I'll go check them out. I managed to talk my brother into letting me use his fuel pump until I get a new one so it all ended up ok Just fiddling with a new carby (2nd hand) at the moment too and it all seems to be going schmicko

got a couple in the shed gathering dust afaik

did one on my vit last week as i didnt put it back on correctly, was my 1st time changing the seal and wasnt told correctly how to do it, so cost me $80 for a new one. i always seem to learn the hard and EXPENSIVE way. hey and gues what the wreckers wanted $75 of a old one PRICKS!

The pump i got off our wrecking zook is now leaking after only 500km's of work Should have got a new one but but thought it'd be fine...
Anyways I've been thinking more about electric fuel pumps and the old man reckons i should get one but can I just run a standard carby pressure electric pump or do i need a regulator of some sort aswell? I need a price first on mechanical vs electric before i decide unless there's something drastically bad about running electric compared to mechanical pump?

dude it is so much easier to just put the same one in but new, why bother guessing a new solution and haveing possible problems when u dont need to i recon.

Put a Facet fuel pump on and run's no worries and the zook also seems a little more responsive. (well i have been driving a diesel around in the mean time so that could be why )
The facet pump cost $100 and the mechanical i was quoted $125 from auto one. Was a very easy conversion I knocked over in about 2 hours. Now if this pump stuffs up i have no worries about fuel in the oil again which gets costly to replace with fuel pump and all that.
