GQ steering wobble???

Hey guys I own a 94 GQ running 2" suspension and 2" body lifts with 33's and I have a problem with the steering. It sometimes shakes from side to side quite violently. I have been running the car with the suspension and tyres for about a year with no such problems and then it started to happen after a 4x4 trip. When I got back I had the tyres balanced and the steering aligned but that didn't really help. I have tried rotating the tyres and also a different set of tyres but have still had the problem. I've also checked the steering damper and that's fine. Heres some other observations:
It happens at nearly any speed, not just higher speeds.
It seems to happen more when I'm driving in a straight line and goes away when cornering.
Its happens more in the wet, whether its raining or I've just washed the car.
If anyone has had a similar problem or has any thoughts on the matter I would appreciate any help. Thanks

its a typical nissan problem mate, do a search, and you'll find shit loads of threads on it....
but heres a start...
check..... wheel bearings... swivel hub bearings, radius arm bushes, panhard bushes, and your castor..... any one ofthese will cause that problem

I had violent wobbles through the steering wheel 12 months ago and it turned out that my Panhard Rod bushes were cactus. Changed them and no more wobbles. Sixty bucks and an hours work.

just wondering when you did the lifting did you get a new drag link as i used to get the "death wobbles" till i replaced it with and adjustable one.
Lower control arm bush's could be roo ted
Drag link ball joints shagged
Leaking front steering knuckles
Hub left locked in
There are a few different things that can be wrong to cause this
When trying to fix this do one thing at a time then you can work out what caused the problem and then you can check that first next time you have a problem like it.
Also try the bible/search
Steering and alignment problems and modifications and the WHEEL SHIMMY ISSUE

nah panhard bushes, its super common in patrols, mines doing it again, im just too lasy to take the bar off and hit it with a vise

I am also having this problem atm
I have had a full snake kit fitted so all new bushes and tie rods
Every thing is new.
Nice hay, spend $5500 on new everything and still have problem
But it dose look very new and shiny under the patrol now.
(So I assume that it’s the swivel hubs)

How good is it, hey! I've got the intermitent wobbles, they come and go as they please. Had the most violent one today, shook the hell out of it, the UHF ant. was getting horizontal! Only comes after a good offroad session, then it goes away until the next. Also they come after I regrease the steering ball joints. The GQ has a 6" lift with 35's and correction plates, and it happens through 80 km/h then dissapears at 85-90 km/h.

I just had this rectified by having the swivel hub shims replaced and a new set of wheel bearings. started off intermittantly and with time became constant. still get a bit of a wobble, but i'm sure thats because the panhard bush has had a good dose of leaking power steering fluid on it.

My gu ute does it with only 50 000kms on the clock, stock suspension and rubber. I have 35s and a 4" lift going in soon. I reckon its my panhard bushes aswell, the rubber looks like its a bit worn.

Could do
The more you push the wheels out the more pressure you put on the wheel and cone bearings

Gotto follow what everyone else is saying, check panhard bushes, control arms bushes, you may have to take the weight off the suspension to do this one as mine looked okay until i put it on the loist to do something else and then you could see they were totally shagged. New bushes and no more probs. The other is shims in the king pins, I removed one from the top both sides and that helped when I first installed 6" and 35's.
