the problem is what you said lack of travel
every one i set up i debore the slave cyl and it is all good normally go to 5/8 bore
the prob is the metric hydraulics dont match the imperial clutch dimensions

G'day, in my V6 Lux i'm using a standard Holden V6 pressure plate with a standard Holden V8 clutch plate. Flywheel is V6. Have had this setup since i did the conversion thousands of k's ago with no problems of early wear or the like. It's important to get the pivot fork adjustment correct. The slave cylinder is re-sleeved to 11/16" bore. Good luck pal.

the clutch in my v6 commy hilux is super stiff, ive done a couple of burnouts on the road with new 31's on and it engages very harsh when you let it out, has almost no slip at all its like its its either in or out, cant ride it at all, not the best for 4x4ing

What clutch did you put in?

Blatently obvious, but you have you tried bleeding it, fluid in the master?
