Ok, coming home from the UK and keen to get back into the bush in my Jim.
Want to put some more mods in it (to keep up with the Jones's) got about 10k to put into it. Here is what i want, would love to here some ideas about what sounds pointless or what else I should do.
Currently has:
31 X-terrains, non winch Arb Bar, twin 170 lightforces, series 3 rockhoppers. about 3-4inch suspension lift. I want to keep it all zook (aka engine and difs).
My mate works at a 4bie shop and can get me most parts at cost + 5%. Also don't mind using second hand parts (if availble).
Ideas to come.
34-35/9.5 tyres (offset wheels) $1000 (with trade over of 31s).
Upgrade axles and cv's to cope with tyres. (any ideas where to obtain?) $1000?!?!
Twin ARB lockers $2200
UHF (not sure which brand) $400?
Winch (XP6000) $1000-1200?
Sports seats $500
Total $6300 as I know I am forgetting alot or optimistic on prices. Trying to get mates to help me with installing this stuff to save some cash.

2001 Jimny, 34inch Swampers, 3inch springs, 1inch B/L, Arb bar, lightforce 170s, twin batteries, 6.5 transfer, twin airlockers, Warn M8000 winch.
that will be a crazy jimny!! i havent seen a jimmy on 35s.
What do you plan on doing with it? comps? just general fun?
it is obvious u are planning some pretty serious off roading. roll cage would be on my list of things. do and internal 6 point cage incase you decide to do comps. then put sum nice bar work outside for pretection.
I know you want to keep it all zuk, but you will find some great advatages by converting to hilux diffs or similar. they are alot stronger and wih rock hoppers and 35s you will find alot of presures put on those diffs and axels and cvs.
I would also consider if you are really keen choppin it down into a ute then pushing the rear wheels to give you a better departure angle and a slightly longer wheel basefor gettn up the steep stuff.

I would factor in some serious suspension mods also as to fit 35's on the jimny wheel base would be scary, you'll need longer control arms and alot of custom work and gaurd cutting.
Also IMO warn winches are overrated, you can get a good tmax for half the price.
I'd be looking at some more engine work with those size tyres too, perhaps and efi 1.6 swap?
Also forget hilux diffs, so long as you go steady some chromo axles and cv's will hold up to 34/35's unless you are competing on rock.

MM, go and grab one of Danks 34's and try and bolt it on. You'll need to remove the plastics and probably the front guard too, but once they're gone you will find that the tyre will foul the inner guard, which in a jimny is a complex pressing off of the firewall, and not easy to modify.
Jimny's aren't good candidates for big tyres at low ride height, and adding mucho lift to clear a 34 is going to make for an upside down jimny (again) you'll need to pull the front axle forward to clear the firewall, but the firewall in a jimny is quite complex and the back of the headlight area is not easy to work with either. Narrow 32's work at a good height but become very sensitive to rim offset and tyre width. That's why jimny's seem to stop at a small tyre or end up lifted heaps like yours was. You're going to need to allow some $$ in suspension fabrication to get the axles fitted and where you need them to clear, or alternatively, plenty of $$ to allow for lots of inner guard work to fit those tyres in.
Unfortunately, Jimny's were designed around a small tyre and are nowhere near as easy to work with as a sierra when it comes to going larger.
D&G in (Belgium?) do CrMo CV's/axles for jimny's, but I don't think anyone does anything for the rear, and rear axle strength might start becoming a problem with the wheelbase and traction of the jimny when climbing. In any case, they were over $1K for the front only. Building a stronger all suzuki rear end will cost $$$- if you're paying for labour you'll exceed $2K on the rear alone pretty easily byt the time you get axles made, and look at fitting the strongest suzuki housing with the biggest gears- a vitara rear.
The front wheelbearing design isn't ideal for big tyres/big offset either.
I know you want to keep it all suzuki, and as is well known, I don't like big heavy diffs under suzukis, but I think trying to make your axles reliable with that much tyre is going to be an expensive hassle. I'd be looking at bundera to get around lots of fabrication and expensive machined, heat treated etc parts.

Anything is possible. Just for a point of reference two weeks ago I had access to complete front and rear bundy diffs with radius arms/panhards, all steering componentry, brakes the whole kit for $1100 delivered to my door. All is needed are the wheels to bolt on. These may still be available
The stock jimny wheelbase is 88.6". That's nearly 10" longer than a stock sierra. The wheelbase is fine for 34s on my 83" WB so 35s wouldn't be a problem. To fit them the front diff will have to be pushed out anyway probably getting close to a stock lwb wb of 93".
I think bundy diffs with custom brackets to push the diff forward. 34/35s sitting in the stock rear diff location would give close to or higher than 90 degree departure angle. It is already awesome with the 31s on it.
The bundy diffs have 4.3 ratios in it which would also correct your final drive better for larger tyres.
I think the little M13 you have now is a pretty gutsy little engine already so a small sc like an amr300 or 500 could work. spamwell? had a good thread on his sc build G13bb.

Thanks everyone for the input. Looks like I might have to bite the bullet on this one. Makes sense to spend 2-3k on a Bundy set up then spending 5k on a jimny dif set up.

Good to hear your coming back H will have to have a drink or two. Anyone who has gone larger than a 32's has maintence issues. Bearing and seals etc. And as other said the girlie cv and axles. If your going to all that work too will it be a second car. It will be in the shed for a while too. Budget for a every day car. Catch you soon.

Really pumped to come home, the Uk is cold and miserable at the moment. We will grab a few beers for sure and of course hit the tracks.

you just need to find someone to treat and machine the axels and cv's try yuri 4x4 he will look after you and give you a very reasonable price. i had mine done by him and since then i havnt brocken a cv or axel. before i was braking one or the other every weekend.

Mate the bundy diffs have gone but I reckon we can pick up something pretty easily. I'll speak to my people about fab work etc and see what I can come up with.
