G'day fellas,
Any ideas on powering a 24v Hid 35w Nordic flood light from 12v , jaycar has a converter module which may do the job -

What do you think?
I also need a wired 2 pin deutsch plug to connect to the nordic fitting - anyone got the gear to make one?

Mate the converter is only rated to 2 amps so won't handle the start up power of the light.
Personally I find the deutsch a pita unless you have the proper crimper, $400, for a good one that you can adjust the depth and crimp upto 12awg. I cut off the deutsch plug and used delphi weatherpack which you can crimp reasonably well with pliers and its waterproof.

why does eveyone "come across" 24v nordics that may have fallen off a cat truck.

There is no "cheap" way of doin it. You will need atleats 10 - 15amp for the start up current.

but go for it

If they were off a CAT truck they would cost double and have the CAT logo on the lens. These were off a CAT dozer

Thanks for the replies, but i didn't mention 'cheap' or 'come across' anywhere, but jump to that conclusion.

So allowing for a higher startup current, can anyone recommend a power supply and place of purchase?

Thanks

One of those redarc units would do it, Jaycar also have similar units.
