i own a 96 model lwb patrol wagon rd28t rx and order new unis for it and apparently RUJ 2028 is the right part number for front shaft according to fellas catalogues which he checked 3 times?

It measures 28mm cap size and 81mm wide with approx 57.4mm across the outside of the clip grooves.

But pressed out mine the sarv which dont even seem fucked but am changing due to some vibration in front end with hubs locked in 2 or 4wd since 4 inch lift and drop boxes? and the sizes are about 27.3mm cap size, 71mm wide and 48.8mm across outside of clip grooves WTF grrrrr.

any ideas on this crap, do i have a diff front tail shaft?? im 99% sure it looks like its been there since the beginning as the whole car was very tidy and standard when i bought it??

Can't help ya with the uni's, but my LWB has got the same vibration with the hubs locked since the 4" & boxes too. It's only really noticable at 70+ km/h though.

Keep us informed if the new uni's do fix it.. ;)

heh yeah well probly wont be anytime soon because of the f#$k around with sizes, and 2 of the clips went Fn flying takin em off so i'll be searchin for those for a while, needa get something back in truck for chrissy drivin

the old ones really do seem fine, but ya never know grrr, does yours go quiet when under load in high 4?? mine does then let off throttle and drone is straight back..

maybe ill just sell my front shaft for scrap get 2 bucks for it buy some candy and get bead locks and rear locker and let my tyres down to 4 psi

Yup. I'm just too slack to change 'em - it's easier to just unlock the hubs..

first rb30 patrol I did was a nightmare! 3 days of goin back and forwards, the book says same no for all patrols but its not. the rb30 and 2.8 use a different gesrbox to the others and have different unis!...pretty sure their a navara part No, I have it written down somewhere but don't know where.

dont waste your time on ebay, take one out go to bearing wholesalers and get it matched!, I couldn't do this because mine where demolished on both ends!

Just had 2 driveshafts in my hand today. RD28 uses smaller joints than the TD42 ! The measurements you got out of the book would most likely be TD42 units.

Yeah i said to the guy im sure the 2.8s and the 4.2s are different, and said ive checked 3 times in different catalogues and these will fit, pfffft my ass they will. yeah after christmas i'll have a chance to take front shaft back out again, but will just unlock hubs for now.

I think you''ll find the vibe is from the pinion and transfer output being at differing angles to each other.

The only real fix is to adjust the caster angle, which will adjust the pinion angle by the same amount.

If you use spacers under the crossmember the angles will most likely never align when caster angle is correct.
