				Hi folks..
been reading and looking at the various V8's now available.. eg
Chevy, holden 308/304 LS1 windsor efi and the toyo iufze etc, okay so what's the best for the conversions.
Chevy 350 $3000 No box expensive parts for rebuild
Holden LS1 304 $2000 T700 box common and parts good
Ford EFI 302 $2000 with box common and parts good
Toyo/Lexus ?? $2500 with Box Now common Parts ??
Looking at the V* into the 40 but which one ???..
This may raise some discussion and loyalties..

ls1 and 304 completely different motors,
ls1 is a 3rd generation chev small block (even the commodore ones)
304 is obviously holdens efi V8 based on the old 308 V8 (which was based on buick 330 V8)
if you are putting it in a landcruiser, you would be hard pressed to go past the toyota V8, a 2uzfe (4.7 litre) can be had for $4500 or a 1uzfe (4 litre) for under $2000 complete with everything for a conversion, they are tough as nails, easy to get parts for and toyota
having said that I have always used Holden 304 and 308 and had pretty good success with them, mainly because they are cheap to buy and modify, but they lack power by todays standards
if you are after big power, a ls1, ls2 or 6 litre ls6 or other derivatives will deliver the most power per $ input, parts are cheap and plentiful thanks to the commodore crowd
All of the motors you mentioned are good units, IMHO, the ford will be the dearest, then the toyota, chev and the humble old holden the cheapest but not necessarily the best
have fun, V8 s are a blast

chevs are by far the cheapest mate, dunno where you got your info.
ford definatly the most expensive,
all the motors you have listed are good though, just a matter of what you want really, and what deals you can find.
chevs are probably the most common for 40series conversions aswell, theres generally chev to 40 conversion kits on ebay and trading post.
you MIGHT have problems finding a conversion kit for the toyota v8 into a 40, i dont really know but imagine you would.
