Planning a ground up build of a 75 series, what bits would you include / modify? Not a comp truck, just for Fraser Isl

Rear diff/axle out of a ? - I've heard there are better options than the standard

Front diff / axle out of a ?

Brakes ?

Extra long range tank to combat the price of fuel on the Island

Big lift to get the sump above the wheel ruts

Staun bead locks of similar to prevent rolling a tyre off the rim

Ideally a gal chassis and fibreglass body?

I'll be starting the project early in the new year - still looking for a starter vehicle.
Any suggestions for mods / things to include would be appreciated.

If you dont want anything too hardcore and only gunna use it for touring and Fraser Island and sorts, whats wround with a pretty standard 75 series? Just for shits and giggles you can add a 2" suspension lift and some bigger tyres.... but why would you need anything more for Fraser island? The 75 would hold up perfectly in standard form on the beach...

My opinion anyways.

X2. 2" lift, wider tyres, long range fuel tank, Elecronic rust protection, heaps of fish oil, wash thoroughly - ideal 75 for Fraser!

Here's my short list so far
4" lift and 33's
Rust prevention - electronic +
Alloy nudge bar to hold rods, ariels and lights - no bulls on Fraser
Long range tank - biggest I can get
Stronger front under guard (bash plate)
Snorkel - sometimes you get caught in thre water
Diff breathers
Dual batteries for the fridge (possibly a solar panel on the roof)
Deep dish mats inside
Front & rear recovery points

What have I forgotten?

How much money do you want to spend? Is it a ute or troopy?

I have a 95 troopy with an OME Dakar spring kit, which is about 2-3" lift and I have always run 33x12.5s and they don't touch anywhere, 4" lift is comp truck lift and makes it easier to roll your truck.

As for long range tank, if a ute, just get a square tank mounted in the back, cheaper and can hold more fuel than any under body tank. The place I used to work at used one for an oversize pilot vehicle, just used a hose to gravity feed it into your normal tank when you get low.

For long term use on the island a gal chassis is a good idea, while you have the body off, get the bottom and lower panels sand blasted. Then paint them with something like POR15 paint and top coat it with something like rhinoliner, there are lots of similar paints that are cheaper and do a similar job.

Apart from the underfront protection I would leave the rest of the truck the way it is.

Just my 0.02c worth

The base starting vehicle is still under debate - has to be a ute but I really like the idea of extra space behind the seats so a troopy cut to an extracab is a real consideration - I have a current model Hilux diesel extracab as my daily driver so I'm used to extracabs.
Creative Conversion will do it to raw stage for about 4k
Troopys are cheaper than utes to buy as a starter truck as well.

I'd like to start with 4.2lt diesel rather than the 2H so the start truck would have to be newer than 1990.
It will double as a tow vehicle for my 6m boat so even better would be newer than 10/96 so it could tow 3.5t - pre 10/96 trucks have 2.5t towing capacity from what I have read.

I'm still planning the truck but at this stage it looks like:
2 - 3" Suspension
33's
Rust prevention
Good spot lights
Dual batteries
Long range tank
Under tray water tank
Trick paint and some inside goodies - GPS, UHF, Consoles, bucket seats etc
