GQ Auxilary tank

I got an auxilary tank out of a mates GQ competion truck awhile ago and now am looking at fitting it.

Another mate who had his GU converted to dual fuel gave me the transfer pump/pickup etc. out of his old sub tank which fits the GQ auxillary tank perfectly.

My plan is to use my main tank all the time and transfer the auxillary into the main tank when the main gets low, all pretty simple.

On the pickup it has 2 fuel connections, 1 has a gauze type sock filter which is the suction side of the pump the other is just an open tube that ends very close to the bottom of the tank.

Any ideas what the second tube is for?

It cant be a breather as it ends to close to the bottom of the tank and the tank it self has a breather port right nears the top.

Its the fuel return from the engine, you should be able to just cap it off in your situation.

Thanks, I was going to cap it off just couldnt think of what it was, but I guess Petrol GU is injected and will have a return line also.

I have a new question, anyone with a auxilary tank, petrol or disel, how does the filler pipe run?

I have adapted my filler into a Y piece so I can fill each tank seperatley but through the one filler.

It is going to be a tight squeeze to get the filler pipe in though.

I have made a few y fillers, they work fine.

That bit works ok but where did you run the pipe?

Its going to be about 1 1/2" pipe and not much space to get to the other tank.
