Im starting a build of my comp truck and have a few questions to ask as have been doing my research into the build with the use of dvd's and going to the events....winch challenge 1's, havent been to the cliffhanger nor the OBC. I have had a few old folk that have been around 4x4's since I was a boy...
say to me that you need weight over the rear as there seems not enough weight over the rear and this is causing them wheelspin and that of the right foot also.
Me being me thought that the lighter the tray the easier to climb up the hills and have more weight on front so not to end over end
Could you enlighten me on this plz

Well as you said the less weight the betta but at the same time u need to get the right mix so that if u gun it on a hill it won't spin as much I think it'll come down to more playin around with it

i think what brentz is sayin is, a ligher vehicle is a good thing, but what weight is there needs to be balenced between the front and rear axles. too light either end and that end will want to spin the wheels more

if its wheel spinning on hill climbs that you are worried about, you should realise that when on an incline you are putting more of the weight on the rear wheels.
i you put too much weight at the back of your truck it will just want to lift the front which will result in no traction on the front, which will cause you loss of steering control, no pull from the front tyres and possibly flipping.
try to keep your weight centered or to the front a little.

Its a patrol with turbo tb42, I don't think not enough weight in the front will be an issue.

i agree.
all i was saying is that if he wanted to add more weight for more taction, imo... he should not put it to the rear, for the reasons i had stated.

I'm not disagreeing, it will need a certain amount of weight over the back though to counter the heavy front. Its to do with corner weights/weight distrubution for high speed handling. the more central the total weight the better though. The off shute of this though is more weight the harder the winch has to work.

Thanks to you all, all have relevant points that I will take on board.
As it has been said......play more.
Not having done this much at all.....played on the street but no offroad yet.
Thought id just build the truck to OBC specs then go from there.
I will now play with finding the right weight factor....
On the other hand, this is the first turboed car i have every had....so i guess i have to take this into account as well, me have alot to learn at this game.
Find the right package that suit my driving style......which i have to develope
