Got some 4.3 diffs last week
and spent today fitting them to my GQ. I have just finished and went for a test run only to find that the ratios are different front and back :( . Massive wind up!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know how to tell what ratios they are by counting the teath or is there an easier way to avoid removing the diff centers?

Hi,
you need to jack one wheel up ( if its an open wheeler), put the car in neutral and put a mark and a steel pointer on the tailshaft and on the wheel.
Turn the tailshaft one full turn exactly and count and measure how many revoultions the Wheel turns. You need 2 people to do this and the measurments have to be exact.
a bit of welding wire haging off a bolt nearly touching the tailshaft works well on the tailshaft end and the edge of a brink works well for the wheel end.

B4 you put them in !!!
they have a series of numbers on the crown wheel !!!!!!
it will give you how many teeth on crown wheel , compared to how many on the pinion !!!!!
but if you dont want to pull them back out to check , similar to wat jess said !!!!
but turn the wheel 1 full turn , & count the tailshft revolutions !!!!!!!
slightly easier , you can do it by yourself !!!!!!
good luck !!!!

thanx.
The front was only a 4.1. I will pick up the 4.3 today and refit tonight.
I found it was easier to pull the diff out to make sure I was right. It took me 1 hour from pulling into the carport to having the diff on the bench.
I was running 3.9 ratios with 33inch tyres which made the diesel bit of a slug. It's a lot better now and can run some bigger tyres.
