no 5th gear

hey
i was driving home tonight and as i came off a round a bout on to a highway took it to 80 in 4th changed to 5th to cruise since it was a 80 zone. and as soon as i put the power down to cruise it pops straight out of gear. and now it will only stay in 5th with when i take my foot off the pedal.
can anyone help.

Having the same problem, decided its to hard to deal with so have another second hand box that will last me one more year.
Sorry cant help much further but Im guessing mine is combination of pushing 31"s and having a hard life.

nope no body lift and only running 235/75's. i did have a couple rats get into me car last night, dont no if they could of done any damage.

The locking ring and teeth wear quickly on 5th gear, it will pop out quite a bit.
You need to drop the box and replace 5th gear and its locking ring, pretty easy job.. half a days worth at a leisurely pace with a decent manual (if you have not done it before)

Yeah 5th is stuffed will need to change 5th on the counter shaft and main shaft i gather..... Or find a cheap box...
