hey i have installed one of these waeco raps power supply thingys to power my fridge in the back of the gq longy. its the one that hard wires to the battery with a fused 6mm cable and has two outlets. u can chose to power the fridge with constantly or only when the vehicle is running. my problem is the unit wont let me chose to power the fridge in vehicle running mode only. i can select the constant power option only. while i uess this ok, the reason i got this was so it would be a set and forget system with out having to rmember to turn fridge off when truck is off. i could have easily fitted a plug for a fraction of the cost. does anyone know whats going on with this? havent rang waeco yet just thought id ask here first...cheers

How does the waeco thingy know when the vehicle is running? Is it a separate connection somewhere, or does it just work on system voltage to "guess" when the engine is running?

its all in a sealed box arrangment that has some kind of curcuitry inside that differentiates between voltage levels im guessing. constant power setting will draw straight from battery regardless of voltage and the vehicle on only setting is designed to only be switched on when voltage gets above a set volatge. probably 13.8v or whatever the alternator charges the battery at. im guessing im getting a volatge drop situation but surely with the 6mm cable and fitting as they describe it shouldnt be dropping. also i def have no drama with alternator as everything else is working fine.

me & the bro in law are currently going threw this sh!t right now mine worked fine in oct for our fraser trip but our trip over xmas had to be run on voltage only after you push the switch to engine running 20 sec later fridge turns off push the button back in to run off voltage & the fridge switches back on the prob is the fridge doesnt run as efficiently & its pointless haveing this setup if its not working properly

no extra blue cable on mine...
just got it all tested out and found that the hella style plug worked fine but the standard type ciggie plug side of the waeco box was stuffed, couldnt handle the voltage to run the fridge when set to constant power. waeco will change it on warrenty but i have a sneaky suspicion it will happen again..
so at the moment all is fine if i use the smaller hella type plug....

the engle style one??? imo would be an easy cct to make, you could make it work 110 percent better all it is is a voltage reg and a selector, if u want the fridge on only when the cars on press a button, and the fridge will only turn on when there is power to the batt line, and power to a seperate ign line, want it on all the time, have a voltage diff of 12V in the box and have the fridge on always till the voltage drops below twelve, or any preset level, very easy to do, could make a fortune (Y)
