hey guys
im looking at buying a set of tyres for my 40, i just wanna know who runs maxxis creepy crawlers?? my truck will be driven on weekends etc so they will be seeing abit of road use.
i have read that they are great on rocks and mud etc but how do they wear on the road?? i dont wanna go spend 2g on a set of tyres and have them last me 6 months, so any help would be great.
thanks mitch

How many km you expect out of them? 25,000 is about it. Thy are great tyres I'm on my second set. If you want better life on road look to mtz's or something with a "road freindly" compound.
Maxxis radial trepadores, big horns, mickey thompson mtz. There are alternatives but everythings a compramise.

i would have expected much more then that. I have not seen a streeted set thats done more then 10000 but that one set done the ks under a heavy LR 101 and they looked good as new.

i have a set in the 37s x 1250s and love them in the bush, have to air them down a heap for them to work, 10 psi in the front and 8 psi in the rear and i dont have beed locks
havent poped one yet ( touch wood ) i dont see my self getting 25000klms out of them, ive noticed that on the granite rock up at jenolan they have worn the front edge off pretty quickly, as for on road driving pretty good, even in the wet, i seem to think though the centres will wear quicker due to the thinner tread, and having done a few trips now following other trucks, they have great side slope traction,

I have a set of 35x12.5x15 on my lux, love them, they sem to work good on everything I drive, clay, wet clay and rocky tracks.
They are quite worn from when we were gunning it across a rocky track, but what do you expect.

I ran my 35 12.5 15 creapies at 6psi under a tb42 gq extra cab, I lost some air a couple times but never broke a bead. My 37's are mech bead locked.

Also run Creepies in 38x13R15 on a GU ute. love being aired down. I have external beadlocks though.
Love the traction, but losing the sharp edges from high speed gravel driving. (80+ kph at 8psi) People that know me know i dont spin wheels for long (costs too much
) so i would assume its from the gravel roads.
I dont drive them on road though, the fairly soft compound wouldn't stand up well in my opinion.
cheers

I had a set of 38's the ones vanbox now has I found them to stiff in the side walls had to run them vertualy flat to get them to flex. Good in mud average on rocks and deffenitly not good for road use. I would not buy another set unless it was in the sticky compund.

17x10 rim?
Yes all those tyres are available in 17 inch and a 10 inch wide rim is designed to run tyres 13.5 to 15.5 inched wide.

ok sick ill have to have a better look. also guys did you know the maxxis creepys come in a soft compound and a hard compound? the hard compound would be better for the road but i would still like to know how many k's you'll get from them, im guessing if they are the same compound as mtr wranglers i should expect 70,000kms out of them??
