swapping 8" front diff with early 9.5" on 70 serie

Hi all,
Ive been reading up on the weaknesses of the 8" front diff in my HZJ70. I have not had any problems despite some hard off roading but I am currently fitting a 400hp LS2 motor which may make it a bit difficult to drive gently. I am exploring options for if it ever does explode. Probably the simplest option for me would be to swap in an earlier 9.5" front and upgrade it. is this common? I cant find anyone whos done it
will the housing from a late 80's bj70 swap straight in? like are the leaf mounts the same?
can you get Longfield cvs for 70 series axles?
what is the best 9.5" centre to use? are some stronger than others?
and what is the best locker to use with it?

Install 60 series diffs front and back...they are wider and have the large front pumpkin, guy i know has done this in a trouper

Id like to keep the rear diff as it is a factory locker. Im thinking about the old 70 series diff mainly because it seems like far less work if it is a direct bolt in (is it?) my current diff ratio is 4.10, this is close enough to 4.11 which I think are common of the old cruisers(?)
My front diff is also a factory locker so it will be a huge shame if it does ever die. I just want to have a good back up plan if it does.

YEP do that!
Longfields are available for 60 series axles in both 27 and 30 spline.

get a early 75x complete front diff (large center) and put the swivel balls from ur late model diff onto it, just cut them off and re weld, taht way u get the early model big diff center and the late model bigger cv joints
hope that made sense
everything will bolt straight in bar the swapping over of ball joints

use the early 75 housing and just fit longfeilds it is the cheapest and strongest option i have done it as i run a 4.5 turbo petrol with around the 300hp at the wheels and it dont break diffs or cv anymore.

whatever diff u decide on, the rear locker will bolt straight into it, using the right length axles.

great to see it is a direct bolt in. the idea of swapping over the swivel housings is cunning ill weigh that up against the cost of longfields. I emailed longfields to see if they sold them for a 70 series but with no reply. is a 75 series diff the same (width) as a 70 series swb?
are all 9.5 cruiser diff heads created equal? I know for hilux diffs there is the old style and then the new 'v6/turbo' style which is much stiffer and hence stronger.
when my old 60 series wore out its back diff i replaced it with one from a 40 series front and remember it being only 2 pinion compared to the 60 series rear which was a 4 pinion lsd. The 60 series diff head was so heavy I was not prepared for it and i have a dent in my chest from dropping it on myself! I may be wrong but i remember the 60 series diff being far heavier and more robust looking?

Longfield dont makte "70 series" cvs and axels as they dont have them over there, probably wont know what your talking about. But 40 late 40 series ones are the same thing anyways, axels are the same length and the CVs are the same.
70,73,74,75 all have the same widths.
