Went wheeling up north along the beach near double island point for a few days, nothing
too hardcore mostly just sand, there was a lot of rough corrugated parts though.
anyways coming home noticed the front passenger wheel was leaning way over at the top.
knowing nothing about solid axles or the ball joints? i dont even know where to start at
straightening this up.
havent really had a chance to have a good look but any advice or ideas greatly appreciated!!
Oh its a 89 lux if it matters
also, uni's how hard are they to do at home? possible at all? again never done one, do you
need a press/puller or any special tools?
thanks

Get a good bench vice if you dont have one. Makes life easier when putting the new uni's in.

Um. before you go pulling down the entire front end to check the king pins (i believe this is what you guys meant by pinion bearings - the pinion is in the diff centre)
jack up the front tyre. have a mate grab the top and bottom of the tyre and rock the tyre back and forth. If the entire swivel housing rocks and has play then the king pin bearings require attention. If the tyre moves and the swivel housing stays fairly still then the WHEEL bearings are in need of attention.
I'd be VERY surprised if the king pin bearings are stuffed. It doesn't happen often unless they've had a pretty hard life.

my swivel hub bearings collapsed in exactly the same manner as above, and the car looked exactly the same as zero's does. Except the wheel was leaning in at the top when mine went (might indicate the top has failed on his, as the bottom failed on mine, making it lean in at the top)
Car had been in 4wd about 4 times in its life.
I would still be doing as you suggest tho, jack it up and give the wheel a shake.
Mine moved freely about 60mm.
