maybe the new pathies....but I like the look of the 1990's Pathies over the X-terra. In a way the X-terra looks a bit cheesy to me, like for those spandex "extreme" sport types.
Although the X-terra can look alright with a bunch of mods.

The Xterra is a US-only thing, sadly. Europe and Australia got the the Terrano II in 1993 based on the first gen. Pathfinder chassis which is very similar to the Xterra bodylines. The Terrano II was built until 2004.

China got the Nissan Xterra, but they call it the "Zhengzhou Nissan 'Paladin'". I think there are some cosmetic differences between the US Xterra and China

It's a D22 chassis isn't it? In which case the same platform as a Navara which happens to be the same as a Frontier.

That pic by Luke is running D22 headlights, STR Navara grille, bumper, front guards.
The front to the B pillar is all D22 STR.

Xterra = D22, WD22 to be exact while the pick up is the MD22
The new Xterra is based on the D40 F-Alpha platform (Navara, Pathfinder) with the Navara drivetrain and axles.

I should slap you where you stand. The Xterra is a proven 4wd.

Your going to need some better examples than that. Most stages on the Engel series have a DNF of 10-15mins.

Check this Xterra out. This would be good advertising for air lockers.

Haha! Those bids were boring! A vehicle proven to be mild! The second link you posted, the little hill climb, not very impressive. And as said before, winch challenges like engel etc are very fast paced. Maybe ok as a tourer and A bit of off roading but I was just saying it wouldn't be that good in extreme comps etc

I never said myself that it is a pos 4wd or that it can't do some good wheeling. I have been offroading with many nice X-terras, with a SAS they do damn good! But I am not keen on the trendy look of them myself. I like the 90s Pathy look much more, even if it is boxy and kind of bland.
I will take any Patrol any day over an X-terra, Pathfinder or any other Nissan. But hey that is just me...

no patrols here so....
those were just a few small sampling videos. there are tons more on the net. there are already people fitting SAS on 05+ xterras and they look sick, not to mention HUGE.
a big OMG though is the price for an arb or shrockworks front bumper. $700-1000...
is that normal for an arb bumper in aussie???

ARB bars are around the $1200 AUD mark here.
As for the comments on the Xterras. It would make an ok tourer and would probally go ok with mods but it is not even close to what we use in comps over here.
For example in the vid below vid. The guys would drive that like a speed hump. The navi would be jogging to keep up with him. A stock Patrol would drive that hump easily.
See if you can get your hands on a Cliffhanger or OBC video. It wil open your eyes up to what we do down here. Lots of speed. Lots of action. Lots of fun.
