Sorry to be asking so many questions but im rather excited about my new free zook
Just wondering is it fairly easy to remove the sway bars on a 89 Sierra if so is it a good idea for a bush only Sierra!?
Cheers, James.

It is way too easy, hense why you hardly see a zook with a swaybar any more!

I don't think you'll find one on the back...
Remove the front one. You'll normally have to unbolt one shackle to do it if it's an 89, but it's no biggy.

Bit of a grave dig, but is permanently removing the sway bar illegal?
On the GV, it's no different in driveability with it's removed so I figure it can't be all bad, but I never thought it was illegal.

Fairly sure it is...and insurance companies would be able to use it against you when claiming inssurence after an accident. Willing to stand corrected by someone else!

My engineer lost his nut when i told him how long i had not had a sway bar in... haha. Yes its illegal to run with out one...but so is no mud flaps changing seats, going to 28" tyres on a sierra, and running rims with an offset...

I see your point but I can't see the insurance company knocking me back for not having mud flaps.

illegal?? never heard of anyone ever getting defected for it... never seen a sierra with a sway bar... i think first mod everyone does-take sway bar off...
i have a vitara, would take the sway bar off if i could but if i do i will get too much down travel and keep snapping cv joints...
deffinately take it off will give you more down travel..

try this - actually take off your sway bar, go wheeling, come and tell us how it really affects your car (on and off road). If you break a CV ill replace it, if you dont snap cv's and it flexes better i want a case of beer.
go on.

Yeah, fair enough. Every car is different.
I'm not recommending it for all vitara owners, just danssurf because im prepared to give HIM the 2 cv's i have in my shed if his break.
In any case, I would still take off the swaybar and try it if it were my own car, and there was a chance it would be an improvement.
