Hey all.

After doing a RUF, my front driveshaft has bout 20mm extra of spline sticking out. (Driveshaft is 20mm longer over all)
Should i be looking into a spacer?

How much spline is acceptable to be sticking out?

Thanks

Mike

i think it will depend on how much droop you are able to get out of it..

i have run my ruf setup with a stock front shaft with no issues, but have since upgraded to a coiler front shaft which is slightly longer.

i think as a rule of thumb, you could get under the car when it is under droop (and safe and stable) and give the front shaft a wobble. If there is lots of play / movement around the mid shaft area (i.e. spines), then a spacer could be worth while.

If needed just run a spacer, you don't need a whole new or custom shaft

I also have RUF and have been running one spacer which is 15mm or something, but found that spline contact is still not the best, so i have just got another spacer to put on other end, see how that goes.

Spacers are a great temp fix, but you will start chewing out bearings. New shafts aren't that costly.

from memory (5 years ago) it was a bolt on to the rest of my 1.3L widetrack running gear.

Coilers have WT flanges.
