Hi, i have just recently finished a turbo conversion on my hilux useing a ct20 and surf parts.I plumbed the boost gauge (Brand new)up to the barb on the intake manifold where the rocker cover breather used to go and it is only reading vacume when the motor revs up no boost whatso ever even when driven.Have i put it in the wrong spot?

if its on the air filter side of the turbo then its wrong it plumbs in between the turbo and the head on the inlet manifold or the intake runner. If its definately in between the turbo and the head then maybe the waste gate is stuck open and your not boosting.
hope this helps.

when you do drive the car does it feel like it is building boost(more power than before the turbo)
or do you think it is just an indication problem

if you think it is not boosting then check your waste gate is closing and your turbo is free to spin

cheers

Ok so i swap the boost gauge for one out of my torana which i know is not faulty.after i fitted it i was still getting only vacume. At the moment it is just running a sock filter on the front of the turbo untill i get back to work and make a stainless pipe to hook the snorkle up.the rocker cover breather is plumbed in at the filter also.when i disconect that i get boost,no vacume.Does any one think the air filter might be to restrictive or the blow by out of the rocker cover would be afffecting it?

see the two little elbows each side of the turbo blades there should be a short hose between those two plumb your boost guage into there

Thanks for the help guys got it all sorted now.I had it in the right place but the air filter i was useing wasnt allowing it to suck enough air causeing it not to show boost. After the fist trip around the block i was glad i went to the trouble of putting it on,makes a big difference to the performance of the ute
