well since every time i go to look at a zook, the guy either lies to me, and it turns out to be rusty as, i was somewhat disheartened. almost decided against getting a suzi altogether.
butttttttt
i found a cheap as chips jimny... (never thought id find one in my price range - uni student budget haha) only thing is.... shes got quite a few ks on her.
260k to be exact, now what sort of costs am i looking at to get a 1.3 jimny motor rebuilt?
how long do they tend to last? couldnt be too much more could it? being such a small motor?

sorry to bug everyone!

maybe just upgrade to a vit 1.6efi instead of rebuilding the 1.3efi jimny engine.

engines wont be the only thing worn out on a car with that kind of kms. be prepared for high maintenance. a fully rebuilt jimny engine I think would probably be comparable/a little dearer then a sierra. they are pretty similar. It depends on how thourough the rebuild is. full rebuilds should cost over 2k, but you will get people who swear blue they got theirs done for $500 bucks. imo their is mrto a reconditioned moter then replacing the rings.

when i blew up my 1.3 it was about $2k for a full rebuild or $3k for a rebuilt 1.6 fitted and everything with new rad and hoses (drop it off and pick it up 3 days later).

if the jimny runs well then buy it and start saving for tyres/springs/shocks/engine/clutch etc =)

my sierra has 300000km on it ,however it had log book servicing from new. i have seen sierra's with under 100000km
in worse cond. how the car has been looked after is much more important then km on the clock.

A newer Jimny with that many km's will still be in better condition than an older sierra with the same amount of km's. things other than the motor may not be fatigued as much. But really the test drive should tell as it will come down to how well it's been maintained.

did you get that done at suzishop mate? Is that the going rate they have them for or was there some kind of discount?

i know they sell 1.3 motors with half a recon for about $1600 not fitted and with no accesories. By half a recon i mean old motors reringed with a gasket set, not rebored with everything replaced.
