toyota PTO drive

hey guys, i am looking for some information on the PTO drive that comes out the back of the landcruiser transfer cases rather than the pto drive that bolts to the side of the case. am looking for any info at all so if anyone knows where i can find some let me know! thanks

they are very rare. I believe they were only available in Japan, and then only to government, fire brigades, that sort of thing - not available (or no demand?) for it as an off the shelf part to the public.
you could try Dave Stedman (
stedman@canada.com). He will at least know what you're talking about and whether or not it can be had at any price, he is in Japan and has access to all kinds of cool cruiers stuff.

Judging by your name I'm assuming you've got a middy so this may not be applicable as the following pics seem to show an available rear mount PTO, but the box looks like a H15xF.
I have no idea if the pto part would be different?
These guys are in QLD and may? be able to provide some more information??

Better off getting the side mount one, as dumbdunce said.

Better off getting the side mount one, as dumbdunce said.
the rear mount is substantially stronger than the standard side mount so if you want to run serious hydraulic power for example it would be better.
just thinking out loud, it might be possible to build a rear mount PTO if you had a access to a mill and lathe, possibly aluminium welding skillz, and a box of spare transfer case/gearbox bits. a transfer input gear will have the right internal spline, a gearbox output shaft will have the right spline to go inside that gear, a spare transfer case rear cover will have the right flange to bolt to the rear PTO cover is. (flip it around so the same flanges are back to back). you would need to turn the gear down to just a sleeve and weld it onto the cut down shaft. cut off the bulk of the transfer case cover and weld plates over the resulting large spaces. possibly another transfer input gear machined into a PTO output flange.
it could be done if you were determined and had the time and skillz. (well I guess that's true of just about anything).

Yeah, but they do okay for most applications.
