hey hatsu owners!

i've decided after looking around for an xterra that i didnt need/want car payments again. therefore, i will be fixing up my roza to driveable condition again!

so in turn, i'm looking for some parts specifically. my alternator bottom bolt has chewed through the block mount point a fair bit so now the alternator can move around. this in turn broke the upper mount bracket. no matter what, it continues to break that bracket. i need an idea on how to fix the lower mount point on the block and track down a new mounting bracket. any ideas?

19 views and not ONE response? did this forum develop a severe anti-yank attitude in the time i've been gone?

The only option is to drill out the farked hole and re tap the thread in the block

lol, nice to see an old face still around. what happened to murcod?

its the hole in the front of the block. the bolt has eaten away the mount point so where the front of teh bolt can move around a fair bit which in turn breaks the upper bracket.

in all honesty im surprised i STILL have roza. decided im gonna go ahead and fix her up and drive her again. she's been parked for going on 4 years now.

almost bought a nissan xterra but... couldnt find a 5spd in blue lol. not to mention i couldnt justify car payments after having no carpayments for 5 years.

The Feroza was due for some steering work soon and we had a baby on the way. So it made more sense to sell it and get something that could fit two dogs and a baby.

It's an XL-7 - so seven seats (or five and loads of rear cargo room with the rear row removed.) 135kW, leather, climate control with A/C outlets for the rear row seats, ABS, 5 spd auto, sun roof.... it's a little bit better to live with. Nowhere near as strongly built as a Feroza though.

heh, looks good! my folk's neighbor bought the same rig last year. not bad at all.
in all honesty i really want the xterra, but just cant convince myself to do car payments

glad to hear ur doing well. congrats on the baby! i've clearly been gone too long. seems the daihatsu forum doesnt get the attention now it used to...

sweetness. got a black box by any chance???? i'll take as many upper alternator brackets you are willing to part with. i've got to figure out how to stop that alternator from moving!

Actually the whole engine and accessories are going soon - some of the bits might be of interest to you. Its converted to take a 80Amp Alternator and also fitted with polyvee belts and pulleys for the powersteer, alternator and waterpump. With the longer belt you can also fit an A/C compressor as well

Obviously have to pull the HD-EG out first to make way for the new but after that the bits will be available.

ITs a bit unclear as to what bits you actually want... do you want the bottom / top or both alternator mounts ?

if i remember correctly, the lower mount point for the alternator is a part of the cast iron block. the hole at the front of the mount is just a blank with the rear hole being the one with the threads. the front hole has rubbed a fair bit and therefore is larger than it should be.

mm, im looking for the upper bracket, thanks!

Well my lower mount is a bolt on.... the Feroza one was cast iron and the Applause was Alloy so they are replacable.

OK I'll do an upper bracket search...... and let you know. Shouldn't be bulky/heavy.

really?! the lower bolt point seperates from the block? if so, that would be awesome news! how do i verify this? i'm not close to the feroza at this point in time to take a peak at it.

Well I looked at ALL the blocks I have ( HD and HE ) and they all bolt off so I can only assume your is the same.

I have a bottom mount and will look for a top one - you do mean the slotted steel bar don't you ?

You can have what I've got for free as its all going/gone into the bin. A few weeks later and it would have been gone.
