Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey im after some help with my tb42efi it is using an excessive amount of fuel is missing backfires through the exhaust when changing gears
i have replaced spark plugs and leads checked the distributor cap cleaned the rotor button set the timing it is at about 12 btdc and there is also a smell of unburnt fuel not sure whether it is over fueling or not burning
does any one know what the problem might be

get a modified rotor button, stock clearance is too big, also make sure your coil is in good condition, failing these id check fuel filters and pump for excess consumtion, if that doesnt help get it run up on a dyno, the op should be able to help u

do a compression test

fuel pump is new as is the filter and enginr was rebuilt about 10000 k ago will check rotor button idea and coil cheers

When did u replace the leads? Are they in the right order? otherwise
oxy sensor ,air flow meter,fuel pressure reg, or maybe ecu.

I have a TB42 carby. It backfired nearly every day at different times. Found that the coil was corroded where the lead enters. Don't know what caused it but it was a fair amount of sludge.

Cleaned the gunk out and it stopped the backfiring.

leads were replaced last week and they are in the right order

stupid question i know, but why would compression up the fuel useage on the car. Just coz yourve got your foot planted more to get more out of the engine. Or will the engine use more fuel regardless of what the throttle is doing.

I'm trying to work out why my Carby one is using buckets of fuel. But i've got the exact same symtoms.

also to add it does not run an oxy sensor as the i done the conversion december last year and it didnt have one on extractors could this be the problem
