Folks, everyone here seems to crak the shits if someone comes and askes a question that has been answered before, fair enuf I spoz, but I have tried the search feature, and its absolutly hopeless.
When I was looking for seats for my sierra, I typed in, Sierra seats, suzuki seats even just plain seats, about a million hits, nothing to do with seats.
I just spent a useless half hour trying to find tyres, just out of interest, as I know well tyres of size, make, tread pattern even brands been spoken of a lot here in suzi teck. Punch in tyres-tires-suzi tyres etc
Ok so I recon as the search feature is fukd, if you do not believe me, type is seats, or tyres.
So to all who crap on about the search feature, how about showing us search button challenged folks how to use it.

It doesn't help that people put crap threads like this in the tech section. If you have a gripe PM a mod or Ruff or if you feel the need to post put it in general. Or better yet use google.

If you type in just "tyre sierra" then it'll search every thread with either of those two words in it. If you type in "tyre AND sierra" it will search for posts with both keywords in it.
Using the AND / OR functions will reduce and keep your search queries more relelvant. The more keywords the more relevant. If you are too specific then you won't get any results so you need to cut out a few words until you get what you want.
"Search for Keywords:
You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches"
Also when posting a new thread don't just put "can you help" or "this bit doesn't work" it's bloody useless when you are trying to search for tech info.
Be specific and use keywords in thread post subjects as well.

Just the sort of idiot answer that pisses everyone off, no knowledge, just a need to say something.
This is teck, how to use the site, derrr.
I used a + between suzuki+tyres this is how search engines on other sites I use work, one thing i didnt try was "" but at the same time, just putting tyres gave a million hits of nothing related.

Yeah I understand what you are on about david. I reckon the search function isn't working as well as it should be working since the database repair.
The "" i used just to seperate the words from my sentence to make it clearer i don't think it makes a difference to the results.

This is another reason why it is asked that people search before posting up teh same stupid question again e.g. "whats the best motor for my fully sick zook" or "what do i need to do to fit 31's". Same goes for poor spelling. If you keep cloging the forum with the same question, or cant even spell, how do you expect a search function to work. Why post this in the zook section, where it will jsut lcog up. Why not post it in the General chit chat section, with the 1000 other threads exactly the same as this. Or why not PM a mod regarding it.
Yes the search function is flawed, but by filling the zook section with useless posts, not tech, its only making the situation worse.

Lyato, read my first post, asking how to, if instead of crap answers someone just sed, do it this way, ded set, so easy, but noooo, all the "knowledgeable folk" want to do is simply bag someone for asking questions instead of answering them.
If you don't know the answer to a question, why bullshit.

not trying to fuel the fire but
if u use tires and select it to use the suzuki forum from the left it brings back 431 results for tires, thats not too bad.
remember if someone has tires or anything search related in the signature then the search engine will pick it up.
not sure on tyres not working but tires is but u get that.

Yeah, interesting it doesn't like the "correct" speling of tyres.
I agree, 432 returns isn't too bad.
Problem is, that's too broad a question - if you have a size and put that in - 33's, for example- There were 499 returns, but there was lots of good stuff even in the first page.
In any case, if your search is so vauge, what question were you trying to get answered by your search?
You're getting bagged out IMHO because you were bagging the search function because you're not really asking for anything. If you put "tires" into the search engine, is it any wonder you got 1947473948564749487 returns - it can't read your mind - so what did you want to know?
When I've needed to know something specific and typed that into the engine, it's normally worked.

Correct
Use the small white Google window at the bottom of the search page. You'll find it works pretty well.
