k well i have decided after much thought ill just rebuild my 3f motor that i blew up
ive broken something in the bottom end yet to get it all apart but its already got a reco head etc and few other things so it should be sweet but i need a new bottom end rebuild just wondering what sort of performance mods i could do to the engine?
im gonna get extractors and new exhaust but just thinking what other people have done to them?
going 2 go talk with r.p.m. engines as i no him but just to get some ideas
thankz brentz

You're wasting your time trying to get decent power gains from a 3F without dumping lots of dollars doing efi and turbo mods as Matt has done.
I reckon if a conversion is off the cards then your best bet is to grab another 3F from a wrecker for probably under $500 complete and throw that in. They are a gutless motor but they do keep going if looked after.

If you MUST rebuild, shave the block/head for more compression, port match the maifolds, clean any casting dags etc in the ports fit new better shaped valves and a slightly better cam should give you a little more torque without breaking the bank, or just get another motor from the wreckers

i dont know about them being gutless when i picked my middi the old 3f (which i didnt know at the time) had a burnt out valve on no. 3 pots and blown head gasket between 3 & 4 it sounded like a lister engine but it still held 120ks no worries and came up the gap in 4th at 60k/ph and didnt get hot so thats not bad in my opinion thats not bad and they are rated at 110kw

and lose power and torque? why? unless you rebuild a 2F with more comp to give it more torque than a 3F

ehem,
what you loose in torque and HP in the upper range for a 2f you GAIN in down below where you need it.
a 3f makes is HP and power high in the rev range, a 2f has bucketloads of power down low.
" there is no replacement for Displacement!

ok to be specific, here are some figures
2F 4230 135@3600 210@1800
3F 3955 155@4000 219@3000
a 2f in a offroad truck will wipe the floor with a 3f anyday.
here is a handy site for specs

if you really wanna go v8 just throw in a 2nd hand junker 3f or 2f and make it last till you can legally fit the v8
