ratios for hilux on 33s

my misses just her her first truck...a 85 surf cut down into ute(done properly) with factory turbo diesel 2.4 everything stock she wants to put 33s
on it but i think it will suffer with the bigger tyres...can anyone suggest what ratios would be suitable for this setup

I have an 84 4 Runner which is similar, I run 4.55 ratios but it is still sluggish and lacks low down off road. I have also added diesel/gas enhancement to give more power so it's not the same as standard. I'd go for 4.88's to try and bring it back in line with what you have with smaller tyres.
Just be careful of fouling in the front guards. I run only 2" lift and she catches in the back of the guards on full lock when the suspension is compressed. I'm not sure how you'd go in the surf with IFS but you may need to chop the guards a bit or do a decent size body lift to clear properly.

thanhs mate yeah once we get it regd we have a set of alloy 65mm body blocks to put under it so that should help with that problem. cheers mick
