what fuel pump to put in my 5Lt 4Runner (moved)

Hey guys, as you may or may not know I have been having a few issues with my 5lt 4runner. Initially it was running but giving me headaches, it appeared to be missing. Today however, I went out to try and fix the problem and it started first turn, ran fine and then I turned it off. I had a glimpse at the dizzy and checked the leads briefly, then decided to turn it on again and nothing happened. It is turning over but the fuel pump isn’t priming, so I think the question regarding the surging issue has been answered.
I’m just wondering what fuel pump would be best to put in there? It is an 85 4runner so it used to be carby and to my knowledge still runs the carby tank. I was thinking of putting in a VL turbo/Bosch 070 when I got back home from holidays, but now that its carked before I could get back, looks like I’m on the market for a pump in Melbourne. If anybody has any other suggestions/recommendations or would be able to help me out with getting hold of a suitable pump that would be much appreciated. A mate here has a Walbro 255l/h in tank pump that I can get at a good price, would this be suitable? I’m not sure if I am correct but I seem to remember 4runners use an external pump. Anyway, cheers in advance
