I WORK ON THE THINGS ALL DAY, AND IT DEPENDS ON WHICH ONE YOUR GOING TO BUY, EITHER THE 2.7 CRD OR THE 2.5CRD.BOTH GO WELL BUT IF YOU'VE GOT THE MONEY GO FOR THE GRAND CHEROKEE 2.7 CRD LOTS MORE FUN. AND GOOD OFF ROAD.

I bought WJ CRD Overland new about 8 months ago to use as a road vehicle (my TJ is pushing the boundry on what is even remotely considered close to road legal). The 2.7 diesel engine is awsome on road. Plenty of power and torque. Will match any of the petrol engines in the patrols or cruisers (standard engines), but the fuel economy is unbelivable. I have driven from Melbourne to Sydney twice and on each occasion I can get all the way from Mornington (south of Melbourne) to Parramatta on one tank of fuel and one tank to get back. I can praise the Jeep 2.7 CRD enough. Servicing isn't cheep though! The Grand Cherokee CRD is made my Mercedes Benz in their Canadian Factory. The whole vehicle is basically a ML270 Mercedes with a different body. What I am trying to say is that it is very well built. What I do find ammusing is that it is cheaper to get the car serviced by Mercedes than Chrysler. I this helps.

The WG Grand Cherokee's we get here are actually made in Graz, Austria - not Canada. The same factory also made/makes Haflinger and Unimogs.

On the same note, my 2003 2.7CRD has the most brilliant engine and gearbox - both made bt Merc. Economy, power and torque are all incredible.

Steyr Puch in Graz, Austria (now known as Magna Steyr) has never made Unimogs.
It made Haflingers up to 1974, and Pinzgauers from 1971- 2001 (at which time Automotive Technik in the UK took over) and G-Wagens, and now assembles Grand Cherokee's and M Class "off-roaders", as well as other vehicles, but NOT Mogs :D
