G'day All, well, Ive just bought my 1st Jimny Home. A 2001 soft top. Stock as a Rock. Doing HEAPS of reading here, learning heaps, and in awe of what these and their sierra brothers are capable of, after some mods!! - So - firstly, thanks to everyone for all of the posts I have read.
My plans are pretty basic for as of yet un nick-named Jimny, probly an OME 40mm suspension kit, Commercial bar, and some wheels and tyres. I previously owned a 100 series cruiser, (bought it for 40K, spent 23K on it, had EVERYTHING, just sold it for 26.5K. :( ) - it once cost $312 to fill with diesel.... any way enough about that.
Went for the Jimny for a cpl reasons, mainly the coil ride and the A/C, and airbags. - and dont want the big 'around oz mobile' anymore.
So, my question, - after going into a couple of wheel / tyre places and asking about new wheels and rubber for the 'J', none of them seem to know or care about what wheel tyre combos Im after, or what I can do after the 40mm lift.. - one guy even said " a suzuki what?... Jimmy"
So... what are your recommendations of a good all round combo, better tyre / wheel size, and importantly Where in Melbourne to go, and who to speak to?? ( im in the north East burbs. - Im thinking a BFG AT, of about a 225 7 15 in size on a steel sunraysia type rim?? comments??
Do I need to specify 'offsets' - are there minimum / maximums etc??
( the more I research and read here, the more i realise i dont know!!)
Thanks in advance guys, will try posting some b4 and after pics.
PS, Im a qualified electronics and radio tech for any of the more techo q's that pop up...
Jarrod.

New Member - Jimny wheels and tyres - Melbourne?
Hi Jarrod,
Best suggestion - check out what the other jimny owners are running on their rigs...
My view is to always buy the tyres first, then work out what you need to do to fit them.
There are a few jimny's in the Victorian Suzuki 4wd Club - you might want to check out what they have done as far as tyres, wheels and lifts.
Cheers,
Greg
