I dont think there 45% either, 25% is as low as you can go due to transfer case size

Rick, They are 45% aren't they and have you got any pics.?
I read the latest article in 4wdaction that said 45% and i know marks only have 25% reduction.

I got some of the Marks low range gears, and when i got them i spoke to Mark, and he said that they looked at making them as low as they could but could not fit any larger gear in the 80 series transfer case. There was just not enough room. unless you wanted to grind the inside of your transfer to paper thickness. I would be interested to see how they acheive 45% reduction and how much modding is needed.
25% has help me on 35 with 4.11 ratios

Crickets? Where??!!
Unfortunately we discontinued this line about 6-8 months ago as we had sold next to nothing. I actually just recently sent them all back to the gear cutter for a credit!
The gears we gave Nathan at 4WD Custom mag was about a year ago and the story has only just come out now, so bad timing really!
With the gears we had some grinding was a must to fit them, but paper thickness....no.
Shame they were not at all popular. I had a set in my 80 (the first set actually) and on 40's the gearing was still good in my opinion.
How are your Marks gears Taps, do they whine at all, have heard from a few people that they are a bit noisier?
Rick.

No......... i have had no problem with the transfer gears whining, i use nulon g70 in there and the gear box, and its alright.
I dont beleive that low range gears are as popular as the nissan stuff, most cruiser transfer case gearing is generaly fine, i put them in after driving behind charles van (senior) one boxing day trip, in his rover ute thing. We were going down a very very steep section of trail. His vehicle was running about 10000000 to 1 reduction and i could not pull my truck up, we then put in the gears and they have helped heaps, it basically gave me another gear at 25% reduction.
Cost was about $1600 fitted with a few bits from toyota

Thats a shame, after reading the mag article by Nathan, they are on my wish list (just dont know when that will come about though!!!)
Could you still get these BBM Rick as a custom order...i assume gear cutter already has the necessary plans etc.
My opinion (although I am biased as I have one!
) that as the 80 series is now getting very cheap you may start to see more heavily modified trucks.

I have the marks 25% ers in my 80 [auto] with 4.56 difs and 37" tyres, this gets 1st low alot closer to first low in a manual, and with the lock up torque convertor switch gives better engine braking also.
Yes, they are a little noisier than standard, same noise, just a touch louder.
25% suited, as it would still run to around 50 kph in low range as well, save shifting back and forth from low to high all the time.
Im sure if they went back to the gear cutter, they could be re ordered, as they would be in stock at the gear cutters?

I would take a set. Would go well with the 5.29's.

I would like a set too (to compliment 35s on standard diff ratios) but $1600 seems a big wedge for 25%
How much dearer would the 45% be (presuming they can be had) including fitting (grinding) presuming BBM will do it?
