Distributer Timing

Just been working on the zook today and did a silly thing. Iv spent most of my time under the bonnet of a Diesel and today i removed the distributer, as soon as i did this i realised chances of me getting the timing correct again would be slim.

Any tips on how to make sure i get the timing correct again?

Cheers in advance!

As said engine on tdc . in the dissy there is a notch/ line,Not the cap turn your rotor button to the notch/line that is tdc on the dissy. Put it in and see how far it is out , Slowly remove dissy to you can just turn the rotor button, so it will line up with the notch/line and then get a timing light to finish the job.

Well i got the new pump in the zook. But im not sure the timing is right as it seems to have less power then it did prior to the dizzy being removed and put back in. Should i just keep trying different settings!?

Cheers

Probably because it is on TDC rather than where it should be timed at. eg 10 degrees before TDC (off the top of my head). Use a timing light to correct it, or if you don't have a timing light, with the engine off put the timing mark on 10 degrees and then move the distributor so that the rotor button lines up with no 1 lead.
