Im trying to find an engine to put in my project bundera. im tossing up between a 304 efi v8 from a commodore or a 1UZ. the other problem i have is what trans to run? im leaning towards getting a 1uz halfcut with an auto in it but i dont want an electronic auto.

So for a start whats going to be the easiest way of going about it. also where can i get half cuts from. i cant even find and importers on the net.

thanks

the easiest way i found to get info on importers is to head down to the local news agent and have a look through the car mags there i have found the most importers advertise in the likes of fast fours and rotaries, hot 4's, or various other performance magazines

i just had a quick google for you and found this i hope it helps i just googled automotive importer and i found this for you

Do you want an auto???

if you run an R150 (turbo bundy) that will be plenty strong enough
dellow do a bolt up for a 1uz to this box

It would be well worth driving down to brisbane after finding a few to look at there at least half a dozen places that would have one in stock
should be about the 2k mark
if you can get the model with a 2 computers 1 for auto one for engine
(i think this is the crown) this will be much better if doing a manual conversion

other wise it does not matter they will still run fine with all the auto stuff removed
if you do want to run auto it is easier to pick the model with single computer (no interconnect wiring) soarer or celsior

i have wired a heap of these no need to be too fussed about the elec autos i have been able to make them run fine

i have the petrol bundy and what ever gearbox they put on that. thats why im thinking about the auto. from what ive heard the petrol box can only just handle the little 22r let alone a v8.

also is there anyone else other than Marks 4wd that do conversions?

If you dont particulary want an auto dont have one
you have the g series (weak as piss) box
do your self a favor go and get a turbo box and it will be sorted (r150)
same as in the supra and v6 hilux

i have a 1uz in my bundera, i am just running the standard auto from the halfcut but i have changed my transfercase. i have put a auto surf oil pan on the box to give it more oil and i over fill it to keep the fluid pumping on angles!!

you can get bell housings that will bolt the 1uz upto a th700 and a C4 i think you can also get one for a t400.

i got my halfcut (toyota Crown) from The Toy Shop in nsw it was just over 2k, the crowns have the rear sump and as stated 2 computers, the auto one is in my garage and the auto is manual shifting! want some pics PM me.
