Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Has any one else had this problem? Im running an fj73 cruiser soa with a shackle reversal long leafs and shackles. Getting unreal flex with that heaps of axle wrap. Im thinking a ladder bar may be the way to but there is very little room and its going to have to be very short so i think it will bind up and limit travel.

Any suggestions?

I haven't had this issue but dont hiluxes run a torque arm as standard on the front?

one i did on a shorty 70 with 60 diffs. the hilux rod is there more so so it doesn't tear the joints out of that silly front to back steeing arm.

Cool Joeblow it was not shackle reversal by the looks of so my bar would need to come in from the front would it not? Did it only have the one bar and did stop all the wrap?

how can that bar prevent axle wrap?

It's connected at the same spot as the leaf springs, so it does the same as the leaf spring, and doesnt help axle wrap from my understanding.

To prevent axle wrap shouldn't the rod be connected to the opposite side of the housing to the leaves, ie, in your case, the bottom since your spring over.

Or do something like a radius arms with 2 points of connection at the diff end.

Axle wrap is usually the springs loading/unloading

That torque rod cant have those attributes

Because it is mounted up above the level of the pinion it will stop forward axlewrap as the pinion will want to point up to the sky, that rod wont let it thus removing 'some' of the axle wrap.

Failing that Hancock u could put in a basic parallel 4link

BLAH BLAH BLAH.....hancock it worked quite well. it does not have a shackle reversal as these do lead to more bugs than having the shackles at the front. would be interesting to see what your shackles are doing during wrap. also what diff ratio to tyre size do you have? this will also play a part in how torque forces are applied.oh....and well said zoltan

I'm running 39.5" iroks with still the standard 4.11 ratio but i have a set of 4.88 waiting on axles to go in. Well i did'nt have this problem before i put the longer springs and shackles on. It seems the more flex you get the worse the axle wrap gets. As soon as i start to get load on it going up hill the diff pulls itself down along way its not unstable or bouncy. As for the four link there is no room with my current setup. I be struggling to fit a ladder bar in. Next question then dose the fixed point on the bar need to be on the same side as the fix spring end? Also the short bar the more binding issue i will have correct?

are those spring eyes bushed or obital?

Tightening the spring clamps up on the pack will help stop the wrap. If you set it up right you wont really loose much travel either.
