We used metal putty to perform a field repair on a radiator hole on a certain Jimny and that radiator was going strong actually is still ok after about 1.5 yrs...

EDIT: laziness of the owner meant it stayed like that. I would only use it as a temporary fix. definitely good stuff to keep in the spares kit.

I have used it for a temporary repair of a sump that cracked on a long trip. Did not even remove the sump first. Stopped the oil leak until I could get it welded up.

One of those things to chuck in your toolbox.

radiator, sump, fueltank - yes
anything vaguely structural - hell no.

I found this stuff good for filling in holes in the bodywork, but wouldn't rely on it for any structural strength. And definitely NOT for roof racks!

i guess it depends on your kneading skills. you average home kneader with a bunnings kneader it prob wouldnt hold but if your a pro with a lincoln or esab kneader u might have some luck.

give us a go and post some pics of the beads you lay

Didn't stay like that for long, ended up replacing the rad a little while later. Probable lasted a mth or so and never leaked.

Im going to go out on a limb here but - WAS THIS A SERIOUS THREAD. Were you seriously wanting to compare welding to using knead it. If so, please do not ever ever attempt to do any work on a car. Thats just downright scary.
