front output shaft dramas

Hey peoples, I’ve been having heaps of dramas with my zook making some awful noises while in sticky situations, and everything is pointing at the front output shaft in the transfer. Im only running a standard front output shaft (with 35’s, twin lockers and 6:5 -1 ratio), and after looking around on the American sites (low range off road etc) I have found that you can buy a heavy duty front output shaft (which is out of a >1994 transfer). Im wondering if anybody knows of an Aus company that sells these shafts (can get one from the states for around $150 del) and the other qtn is.. can anyone tell me how to install the new one? It seems that I will only need to remove the flange.. is this true?
Thanks for your help ;)

The output shaft is easy to swap. You can pull the front section of the transfer case off still in the car, then you can swap the output shafts aout and fit teh new one and support bearing. But what is it doing. I have seen cases that did not engage the output shaft dog teeth properly, allowing them to skip?

Layto....

thanks mate.. do you know of any places in aus that sell them?? When im in thick mud, with both lockers in, it makes a huge "popping/bang" noise.. only does it once or twice, by then im either out of the hole.. or i get scared about the noise.. and get recovered!! This is the only time it does it.. (obviously when theres shit loads of tourqe on things) Been speaking to sean from low range off road, and looking on other forums, and seems that it is a very common thing, and more than likely be the front output shaft (the transfer is only a year old, that i brought off from low range off road).

i have called the local suzuki dealer.. they said they need my VIN number so they can access their spare parts section.. but then they realised that by doing this, i would only be getting a shaft to suit my 1991 zook.. which isnt what i want!! So.. they couldnt help me. I called locktup.. they qouted me the same as low range off road did.. and BBM couldnt help me. I have also called suzuki world, suzuki shop, suzuki this, suzuki that.. no-one can help!?!?!

sweet.. thanks mate! So #29151-80051 is the part number for the updated one?? I reckon i'll still need a vin number of a later model zook though... sounds backwards to me, that suzuki cant even look up info on another vehicle (other than the one you have the details for), hmmm
