Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Ey guys,
I posted a thread a few days ago about what needed to be done for a service before a holiday.
Anyway I know how to do a motor oil and filter change but have no idea how to change diff oil front and rear, transfer case, flush the radiator etc etc
searched the GU bible couldn't find anything...
anyone help with anything?

Car is a Turbo Diesel 4.2L GU Patrol.

Do yourself a Huge favour and get a Gregory's (or similar) manual from supoercheap and the likes. Will have all the info you need.

Changing oils is simple. pull lowest bung out, drain fluid, replace bung, fill with new til just starts overflowing.

Helps to have an oil pump of some sort for the diffs, box and transfer.

Use the manual for the recommended viscosity oil to use.

Gregory's = best $30 a spent

Make sure you can get the filler plug out BEFORE you pull out the drain plug..

excuse my lack of knowlege but whats the filler plug?
top of the engine where you poor the engine oil in...?

Everything that needs oil has a sump (drain) plug and a filler plug.

On the engine, its the cap ontop of the motor (and for obvious reasons at the bottom of the motor is the drain plug)

On the front of your front diff (and back of your rear diff) is the filler plugs (2 put fresh oil into your diffs). Underneath them is the drain plug. As stated previously (i forgot ) take the filler plug out, then the drain plugs (clean drain plug as it has a magnet to catch metal filings). Put drain plug back in, then fill with new oil. Check for leaks.

On your gearbox and transfer, same sort of thing, although i cant remember where the filler plugs are, just need to go searching.

Here you can see the fill plug, and the drain plug on a patrol rear diff. The drain plug is in the raised section on the bottom left corner of the pumpkin.

And in this eBay add, you can see the gearbox fill plug (??), which is located halfway down the gearbox, about 3-4 inches from the bottom.

The transfer case should be easy to identify the plugs on - just jmp under and have a look.

I use a garden weed sprayer..cleaned out of course, put oil in pressurise it
and wait for the level to come up as described, nice and easy

as said, remove filler plug before drain on diff..
