after a 3hr trip on the highway with a matress on the roof lol my vitara was sitting on halfway to 3/4, normally wont g over 1/3 ever. almost hit the red on a few big hills but thought okay due to the matress.
turns out it lost about 1 litre of coolant out of the radiator but the overflow was full still.
then same on the return trip with no matress, at 100-120km/hr it was fine, just low rev city traffic got it up round the 3/4 mark, high reves and low speed it was fine. this all leads me to believe the fan, radiator and pump are fine.
just the water still in the over flow but missing out of the radiator seems like the radiator cap, huh? if it was a leaking hose it would still suck water back into the radiator right?

take your radiator to a reputable place to have them remove a tank so they can poke the core out, only then will you be happy its cleaned properly. after time they buid up a whit powdery substance that the coolant washes away from the walls of the engine.

you might have a slight pressure leak somewhere, look for stains around pipes, fittings etc.

sounds like the beginning of a big problem... BLOWN HEAD
give it a few months and u will soon find out.
check your carpet is not wet-could be heater is leaking-if its a sort top your carpet is prob wet from rain so u cant really tell-got sick of wet carpet so pulled mine out- i was sick of water coming in through the roof and also water rising when goin through deep mud-im puttin a bilge pump in so i can submerge my car deeper in water, had it flooded above the seats a few times

Too much flow can cause as many probs as not enuf. If you have too much flow, there is not enuf contact time and the water will stay cool, but the engine will overheat.
