got a mid wheel base for $2000 alright condition but motor is on its way out ie it is rooted got a price of up to $4500 to rebuild motor 3b so i got a swb for $2000 3b running (a/c even works) guy spent $4000 on it in the last year but blowen rear diff so sold it,(toyota told him they could not get a rear diff and it would cost more than car was worth) i did a diff swap (from middie) drives good BUT SLOW so looking on carsale i can get an 80 series 4.5 petrol for about $8000 thinking of doing a motor drive line swap so it would be a MWB all wheel drive coil sprung 80 series diffed rig and then sell all left over bits idea is buy a complete car for wiring loom fuel pump etc do not want to put middie body on 80 as wheel base is longer and cutting the frame is beyond my welding skills but may be considered
anyone done this?? what do you think?? i like the look of and the size of the MWB, fuel price is no prob company car this is just a weekend car
yes i know getting an 80 and converting will cost more than $4500 but the thing get up and move when you hit the loud pedal and stop when you hit the brakes

The 80 wheel base is only just over 200mm longer than the midi wheel base. You dont cut the chassis you put the midi body onto the 80 chassis but mount it about 100mm back from normal position. (this moves the front wheel forward in the guard). This has been done with a 75 ute. For the back (of the midi) you then cut about 100mm out of the back of the wheel arch. You then shorten the back of the 80 chassis and reweld the back crosspiece back on. You now have amazing aproach and departure angle. I plan on doing it to mine one day, but time and money hasnt allowd me to yet.

There is a couple 80 series chassis on here for around $2k
Also a pair of diffs for $1k
Don't buy the whole car...
