mechanics did service yesterday and found coolant leak at rear of cylinder head....he was ducking off early for long weekend and haven't had a chance to talk to him about it. I haven't noticed any milkiness in engine oil and check once every 2 weeks

Is this likely to be gasket or head??? Approx cost for these to be done by mechanic???

.....zook is a non coily '95 with 240K on the clock...if it is head and costly would it be worthwhile to get recoed engine or upgraded vitara engine?

Cheers Stace

depends what the issue is really there are a couple of reasons for coolant to leak from the rear of the head you really need to find out what the actual issue is before weighing up your options.

cheers spamwell....will do this on Tuesday when the mechanic gets back from long weekend....just wanting to get some numbers ($$$) running through my head so I have an idea what I am likely to be up for...but as you say until I need to know the why first

Well, that was extremely helpful.

I would be looking at hoses first, there are many back there that will crack and leak with age.

heater hoses spring to mind.
