Air-conditioning core swap?

So the air-con in the heep is shot, the compressor's done and dusted. Sadly it ain't a cheap fix so I'm trying to source the parts myself. Does anyone know of an air-con mob in Victoria that do core swaps? Ie they give me a nice reconditioned compressor and in return I give them my old one?
It's for a Jeep Wrangler - otherwise I'll just get a reco'd part and get the guys to swap it in, but figured it might be worth a shot. Although with 4 days over 40 I'd probably pay anything to get it fixed ASAP!
Cheers!

Do you know what is wrong with it? A/C compressors are not actually all that internally complex, especially a run-of-the-mill scroll-type Sanden which I think is what you probably have.
If you can identify the model of compressor that might make things easier too.
Anyway, my father-in-law can probably help with the de-gas and re-gas side of things, as he has just gotten the ticket and all the gear for this. Let me know if you want his details.

Try your sparky, they usually can source aftermarket versions which are cheaper than genuine. You will still be up for a few hundred bucks though.

Thanks fellas, apparently the main seal is gone on the compressor, they're talking $1000+ to pull it, send it away to be fixed and then reinstalled/gased.
Think they used a Nippondenso Compressor but I'll crawl under it tonight if I get a chance and check.

Thats pretty good, they would be a bugger to remove.
Is it already R134 compatible?
If not then some of that cost is a Retrofit which can be up to 400 on its own.
