TB42/TD42 Manual trans the same???

Can anyone tell me if a Petrol tb42 manual trans well bolt up to a diesel TD42 motor?
Are the ratio's the same if it does bolt up?

same trans and some people believe they will bolt up (i havent tried before) but the diesel has a 3 bolt starter and the petrol has a 2 bolt starter. other than that they are the same depth and can use the same clutch and flywheel on GQs (again i dont know if the later model GQs are the same)
