Decoding a Hilux VIN

I've Googled and found several different VIN decoders, which kind of work, but all leave me coming up empty for what I want to know: model year.

The VIN in question is JT733LNA609038594.

I know the 33 means it's a dual cab.
The L is the 3L engine.
The N denotes a Surf/4Runner (? - I know it's a Hilux!)
The A is a model code.
The 6 is supposed to be a check digit.
The 0 is supposed to be a model year, but it's also supposed to be a letter, not a number.
The last five digits are just the production order.

Hmm. Either I'm putting in the wrong portion for the model code, or it doesn't work for that VIN.

That can't be right. The truck can't be older than 1991 if it has a (factory) 3L in it.

You mean older than 89, mines a 89 LN106 and had a factory 3L ;)

I believe the L denotes "L" series diesel, 3L engine was usual for that era.

e.g. LN### has an "L" series diesel engine but could be a 2L, 2LT, 2LT-E, 3L or 5L
