Hi everyone,
Just been doing quite alot of reading and checking some pics of the millweld stainless snorkles,to me they look sh1t hot and would love one on my gu!
Now the question is,how much do they howl?? And are different engines going to have different noise levels??
I dug up an old thread-http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic161976-0-0-asc-.php

And the one on weeman's truck looks awesome! But he mentions that the noise can get annoying..
My truck being a 4.5 i assume that it will have less suck then a worked 4.2 turbo..am i right??

Now for 500 there not to badly priced, but could a good exhaust mob be able to make up the same sort of shape? Although then i would need to make up/or buy the plastic looking cover for where the snorkle goes through the body..

now i can hear everyone saying "just get a safari($440)or airtech($330) and you dont need one that big if you dont run a turbo" but i love the sleak look! Although i would cut it below roof level like weemans!

Has anyone got any more pics of different stainless snorkles that they have made themselve's or bought from somewhere!!??

Any imput would be great! and if i dont go the stainless i'l probly get a safari,so is tghere anyone out there that can get me a better price ;)

cheers
aaron

i have a 4" snorkle and a millweld airbox on my 4.2 petty gq and doesnt make much noise unless you have the passenger window down and even then its not too bad, worse for passengers than driver but i love giving it a bit with the window open sounds awesome with some revs.

I probably should note, with my setup its all different to the ones mentioned above.

Mines is 4" pipe, straight into the airbox and with a high flowing custom airbox 4" straight into the turbo...

My setup was done by anth from http://tomahawkracefab.com.au/

All his details are in the link.

I was at his factory before christmas and he completed a 4" setup on a GU Ute, with airbox however with factory turbo but what he did was put a ram head head on it as the owner was of a older generation and didnt want the noise.

Best bet would be to speak to anth as his are all custom.. He normally puts mesh on the snorkle end also..

I tell him about this thread and see if he can add something to it.

cheers

James

Cheers for the reply's guys!
ssfabricator, i'm basically after the same looking snorkle as weemans! And then just have it poking through the gaurd then use silicon tubing to connect it the standed the air box!
If you could work out a rough price please so i could compare that would be great(also postage to newcastle)!

I'l also give Anthony a call tomorrow and see what he can do for me!

thanks fellas

also if any of you guys want pics of the millweld snorkles just google millweld snorkle and it will come strait up

Best to check with anth from a tomahawk.

But from memory with the big ford filter they around $600 however that's custom built to your spec.

Snorkle is around the same figure, normally he does them with mesh on the end of them and he also grinds back the welds so looks like a smooth continues pipe.

the one on weemans looks like it has two bends
ballpark $300 you fit yourself i can help you out with some nutserts inside pillar but you will be cutting the hole in the gaurd your self
and i work at tomago you would need you to bring the car in to get the correct angles

Curious where does water dump out of one of these? we can get a full cup or two overnight in our rain gauge and it has a smaller opening.

in my old hilux with a full tomahawkracefab system including custom air box, it had a drain plug in the bottom of the air box. as with everything tomahawkracefab does, nothing is left to chance and everything is thought thru and proven.

Most standard airboxes have a water drain, and Patrol have copied the Landcruiser design and changed it slightly.
