Manifolds, LPG, and Holley Probs

Post by British Bulldog »

Hey guys got another dumb question which manifold gasket do I use with a elderbrock manifold onto a 3.5 carby motor:
1) http://www.roverparts.com.au/inc/sdetail/254 ERC3990
2) http://www.roverparts.com.au/inc/sdetail/253 LKJ500020
3) http://www.roverparts.com.au/inc/sdetail/255 ERC3990
As I am unsure without pictures and the car I pulled it of only had the thin metal valley gasket and lots of silicone.

Also whats the best gas mixer for a Holley carb the alloy hat type eg
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0336170496
or try use something more in a line like this
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0297184202
but with using this how in the heck would I attach a pipe to the top of the Holley.
With both of these options want to keep it usable off road eg no water or mud clogging air filters and the like.

One last thing is $90 about the right price for a Holley 4BBl rebuild kit or to pricey. And can some one give some diffinate info on making these Holley better for off road but I will be running dual fuel so is it better to just keep the gas for off road work

Sorry about the dumb questions but am trying to solve the lack of K's per tank out of the old girl. 230 is not enough with what I get up to. Was chasing down the second gas tank path as you could see from my other posts but this lead too a giant big pile of dollar signs. Not where I want to go at present. But I have the elderbrock and Holley sitting here doing nothing at present so figured this is the cheaper and simpler option of returning the car to duel fuel not straight gas. Is this a dumb idea? This is causing me a lot of stress and pain as I have to have it all sorted and running by no later than the 20/02 for a planned club trip. So please some help to ease the stress would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Kris

The first LPG mixer you pictured will work but id be looking around for the sprint gas hat type they are better suited to a holly as for making the holly run good on petty off road best trick is to move the bowl vent and block off the original one so when going up hill it dosent flood i moved my bowl vent to the center of the fuel bowl modded the air filter housing and run a tube off it back up near the ventri so the fuel bowl still gets vac so the thing runs proper i have no probs with flooding now and it will start and idle on 60 degree uphill angle no probs ...
As for the manifold gasket use a composet type with a thin smear of red hi temp gasket silicone
As for the holly rebuild id look about for a better price as 90 bucks seems a tad exxy when i did my 2bbl the kit was about 40 bucks with all the gaskets tho it didnt include a new power valve they are about 25-30 bucks a pop and this is the most important part of the holly you will need to speak to someone in the know as to which value valve ya use as it all depends on the cam and the set up of your engin use the wrong one and it will run like crap and drink petty bad hollys are only good if set up right for the aplication i know enough about em to make em run right but ive had plenty of them over the years and have allways had a good run with them :D :D
Cheers

Carby kit from here

http://www.humeperformance.com.au/

465 will be a 4150, buy a whistle (can only do the primary as the seconday metering is different), to extend the vent into the bowl and some fuel hose to extend the 2 into the aircleaner ;)
Wanted: Car trailer or beaver tail truck, let me know what you got
